Being able to use the sun to tell time is a superpower. Being able to write this piece about time is a gift.

Man... Becky, this is now one of my fave pieces from you! Really good

Love how you use the sun as your lunchtime guide, and seeing your photo study of the sun approaching. I wish I could follow the sun instead of the clock for work haha but I definitely will try to be more forgiving of time on the weekends when I can use the sun as my painting guide.

I really wish so! And during wintertime we'll work less to follow the shorter daytime 😴

This was so beautiful Becky. The whole thing but your concluding paragraphs (the last 6) just struck home so squarely. "Time can become my companion instead of predator or prey." And the detail of "I've been unkind to time." Just reading this helped me to breathe at the beginning of this day, which his starting at 4 am for a day of travel, a presentation to deliver and I trip back home, all before a chance to rest again. Thankfully, I'm looking forward to it. But also, I'm going to try to remember to sit in the sun today. : )

Thank you so much Rick for having me as your 4am read. Have safe travels, and hope your sit down under the sun time will warm your day :)

The sun didn’t come out all day! Such is the pacific northwest in the winter. But the gig went great amd you were a welcome start to the day. I think I even slowed down more than usual in the presentation and it helped me to connect even more deeply with the audience.

Wow! You're a great speaker on camera. Hope to experience the magic in person one day!

Oh, I see what you mean. Like in breakouts. Here's link to a video I did for subscribers on Pivot to the Podium. https://www.pivottothepodium.com/p/youre-invited-to-podium-day-my-embarrassing In terms of live audience footage, my promo trailer is here. www.ricklewis.co thanks for being curious

Beautiful piece Becky (: loved how this came together. Such a splendid metaphor. I wish I could do without clocks and only need to tell time by the sun

Thank you Tommy! If only... What I've been experimenting with is setting "alarms" for when I need to end my activity so at least during that time, I don't need to constantly monitor time.

I assume that "dip my toes into telephoto photography" means you want to try some more telephoto lenses. 85mm is a very common focal length, so there will be more choices available.

yes that is true! I've never tried a telephoto lens before so I am really curious. Thanks Michael!

I don't know how common lens rental places are where you live, but they're a common enough thing here. If you're able to, you could try renting stuff to try out. Maybe a 70-200 for a few days for your Sony to get a feel for a big range of telephoto focal lengths.

That is SUCH a great idea! I'll look into rental options around here!

Rebecca, Rebecca.

I felt so much of that writing, pulled into the minute and minutea with you. It started with "The action of reading prose on paper feels rebellious". The sun "burning through your blouse" ? I felt that yesterday! Allowing the light to pace you.. genius. Thnak you for inspiring me and bringing me through you paperback.

Thanks so much for dropping by and asynchronously spending an afternoon under the sun with me! Reading a paperback outside is such a great experience and I'm a bit ashamed that I don't do it more even though I love it so much.
