Wow! Love this piece. I too am struggling with certain routines, specifically in a financial sense and this really helped clear where I can use some delegation.

Your description during your power lifting session is so crisp, it felt like I was right there.

Plus a really great reminder to keep on writing since I took a pause on my own newsletter. Thanks for this Becky! & Happy Pride Month! I have yet to go to a parade though excited to catch some events this month 🤙🏼

happy Prideee!!! here's some confetti 🎉🎊🎉🎊

and yes delegate finances! I've heard some banks can auto-transfer an amount of money somewhere each month and that may be helpful? I have a broker automatically debit a chunk of my salary each month so it's gone before I even know it exists...

The discovery of classes is great, like your said, the only hard part in terms of willpower is actually showing up. Once there, there's no way back! I find the gym exhausting precisely for the same reasons as you describe

Right? My instructors always say "you're here now so might as well do the extra push up!" and they're right!

This is enlightening, not just from the inspirational approach to learning, but it’s useful to hear this as an instructor. It makes me ask, “How can I make the coaching that I do this useful for a student?” It raises the bar for me on what I shoukd expect to provide to a sincere learner. Thanks Becky.

Woah that's so great, Rick! Another thing I'll add from my perspective of "delegating" willpower to instructors... once I'm there and I show up, I'll do literally anything you tell me to.

You can have a service where you audit an instructor's course, showing them as you move through the curriculum where and how they need to make it more clear, simple, and student friendly.

There's no wiser choice to spend your willpower than cooking Padang food, Becky :)

In regards to Walden, Economy can be a dry opener. If you’re not enjoying it, might I suggest bouncing around. I’d recommend Brute Neighbors.
