Beautifully expressed Becky. From everything you've communicated you are anything but token in terms of adding usefully and thoughtfully to the conversation. And I especially liked this note, "Some people go so far as to ask what the purpose of the panel and who the audience is before accepting the speaking invitation." All people should go that far! It would so improve the quality of public conversations!
ooooh now that i see the final version of the piece i know why you had to go through so many versions before publishing!! i guess we have to be comfortable with ourselves first— comfortable with expressing ourselves, but at the same time comfortable with turning things down when it’s too much.
It took a while to figure out what I wanted to say. And many more days to not look at it because I didn't know how to fix it 😂 thanks for giving it a second (and maybe even third??) read through, Clare 💙
Such an important piece and so glad to see it finally out there! This piece is an excellent example of using your personal tone to highlight your experiences to share your findings which inspire others to set boundaries and consider these important points. If I had a panel I would invite you for just being YOU! <3 <3
Great piece Becky! I enjoyed the tone so much. Self aware yet not taking yourself too seriously, aware of the world yet not overly critical of the status quo because we are the ones who make it, after all.
Malavika - how are you! Omigosh thanks for dropping such a sweet note. I'm glad this came across well. I was so nervous about this piece. Thanks for stopping by ^^
Thanks, Jeff! Means a lot coming from you. Sometimes it can feel a lot like slacktivism but the white collar version. But sometimes the impact reaches further and wider than I would give the corporates credit for.
It must have indeed been quite a role to take on. Kudos for taking it up! We all need more of your kind to speak up for what is broken.
Thanks so much Rachel. These are really kind words of support.

Thanks so much Rick. And ah - spoken like a true professional public speaker! I'm guessing you regularly ask that question for your speaking gigs?
It's the first one.
Thanks for dropping by, Ahmet!

AHH thank you so much Kelly <3 This was a beast to write. I'm so thankful you've been so encouraging along the way.

This was fun to read tbh. I like how you’re playful and self-aware in “playing the game” while also taking it seriously and helping others.
