Thanks for sharing this! I think a much less talked aspect of how your world view is shaped by financial culture in the family. People go one of two ways: 1. Be shaped by exactly how their families handled money or 2. Be shaped to go opposite of how their families handled money. I guess in your case, it's more of the latter although it's never binary. For me, it's a little bit of the other way. My family was super conservative in their financial decisions and my dad mostly made very sober choices. This was great but it also left me with a sense of adventure to be a little more risky than him and invest in relatively more volatile assets.

So true. We do end up always a mix of inside & outside influence. But our family influence is very strong.
