This piece hits so close to home Becky. I'm terrible with adding more and more on my plate while having *no* intention to remove anything (not acknowledging where the time will come from ie. what I will have to do less of)
Thanks, Tommy! Yeah it's something I suck at horribly too. I think this time my motivation is to NOT fail at this editor thing. I did not take anything away when I was adding all those other stuff to my list.
I've taken on quite a few things recently including WOP11. Was it too much? Maybe but I feel a lot better mental health wise when I need to manage many things to the point of almost feeling overwhelmed. When I feel bored, or too underutilised, then I feel far worse than when I'm too busy. But it's a very fine balance. Perhaps that's the beauty of it. We need to know where our best balance lies!
Totally! I also think the balance shifts constantly, so what "balance" is for us today could take on a completely different form in 5 years. The chase is what makes life full of the beauty, and it's always a fun day trying to hit that "balance" mark :)
Very excited for this cohort crew with ya! Love the priority definition here, I have recently done this with my teen students and it felt like a great way to see an overview without overwhelm. See you in WoP!
"But now that I’ve shifted my priorities, I know that I will be okay." :)
This is such a relatable struggle: "It’s like breaking a good habit that I’ve spent so long cultivating, knowing that I’d have to rebuild this good habit from the beginning."
Though I think the more time goes by building that habit, and the more times you make it a point to pause and come back, that bounce back muscle gets stronger. I think it's important to be able to show oneself that you can stop something and pick it back up again.
the "bounce back muscle"!!! wow I totally forgot about that. That after you stop exercising it's not as hard to get back into it as the first time.
Thanks again for lending your thoughts and feedback for this one. This seems like it will be a decision that will come/happen again and again as we continue to pursue different creative projects. I'm lucky to have your encouragement <3

Loved it :) as always

I am so confident you will be an awesome editor :)

Woah, would love to see how your teen students did these! "Overview without overwhelm" is a neat term. Seeya around WOP!
Thanks for inspiring my first WoP piece of cohort 11. TBC!

Love the idea of scheduling based on energy rather than time! And why do “people on a crosswalk” photos work so well??
