+1 on Riverside! I experimented using Audacity and other editing softwares for polishing my podcast, but nothing is as easy as Riverside. I'd be delusional if I thought that I (with no team nor audio training) have the skills to put together an immaculately edited episode! It's a much better use of my time to focus on improving the actual substance within my episodes than perfecting audio quality.
This is such an interesting idea. I think I run into the opposite problem: I spend too long in pre-production (aka planning). I have several drafts of essays before even sharing them for reviews and I spend far too long scripting YouTube videos before even planning to film them.
But I think your solution still applies. How can I reduce the friction from idea to published content? It's an idea I'll need to think about some more.
Ohhhh! That's so interesting. Sometimes I need a piece to marinate in my head before I share it with others for review. Are you finding that to be a bottleneck of creating?
First, I loved the construction of this essay because you described a familiar pain so well in the first section I was hooked for the rest. The answer is a resounding yes! Post production stops me so often. I have SO much unshared content of all forms laying around for the reasons you've described, so your thinking about simplifying how it's shared intrigues me greatly and has my wheels turning. I especially appreciated the Riverside tip. I'm going to take a look at the tool. I know that part of this bottleneck equation to getting things visible is the perfectionist tendency at the core of my insecure self. The post production procrastination is in good measure hooked up to the fear of sharing something that isn't good enough. I had an idea for a podcast today that totally lit me up, but then I was immediately thinking to myself, "Don't be ridiculous, you can't add having to record and edit a podcast to your plate." But it sounds like Riverside might do the trick. Thanks Becky.
Such a great read, Becky!
Thank you, Zeyad!
I love the idea of MVC. What a delightful essay!
Thank you Ian! The world needs more of our ideas and creative fun!

Oh gosh yes! Does Riverside also automatically pull together the cuts based on who's speaking?
Yes! It puts it on two tracks so it’s easy to edit.
11 videos in Google Drive! I feel you! :”)
Males edittt :")

I do! My ongoing theory is that I get enough dopamine from planning things that sometimes I end up not doing any follow through
I see! Is this something you want to shift? As in are you looking to e.g. upload more or are you happy with your rate of uploads?
Oh for sure! This year I'll be publishing more.
Looking forward to it ^^

Thanks so much Rick!
Riverside is an absolute gem. Hope this can help you solve the post-production stuff so your brain can focus on telling amazing stories!
