I have very similar affliction but for To Do apps. For years, I was trying on every new to do apps that seemed to promise a magical solution to the problem of lists that seemed to grow and grow. Often I would abandon whole lists along with the tools and move to new ones. And then, just to breathe I would open a fresh sheet on a notebook and write things to do that day in simple terms and check it off. I have now given up on being completely organized and on top of my to do lists. They continue to decay and die in multiverse of apps. At least I've stopped exploring new apps and let them die in the same app for many years. The world seems to keep rotating and my life doesn't seem to have gone off the rails. Another day, I will talk about the thousands of unread emails I have in my inbox :)
Sometimes we do try to optimize parts of life that don't need touching, the 80% of the 80/20 principle. If your world is still rotating, you can keep going!
Larson's RENT was my generation's Hamilton. Granted, in many ways, that one is just a straight-up photocopy of La Boheme, but he changed it in ways that spoke to a new generation.
Also, have you heard of JetPens.com? If you haven't--you're welcome. And, possibly, I'm sorry, in case your bank account never recovers...
This piece worked out beautifully! Here's to ALL the note-taking!
Thanks Masha! And gosh, Jetpens is dangerous... But I did buy a REALLY cute 4-in-1 Kirby pen from them and had to resist buying everything else because... DROOOOOL
Loved this Becky. I’m also a huge notebook nerd (using a Japanese travellers and a pocket rhodia atm) and found a lot of joy in returning to pen and paper to escape the digital world for a little bit.
WHOOO I have a pocket Rhodia at my desk right now! And love seeing your Traveler's in action from your Instagram :) so cool to be editing peers with ya <3
not me reading this whole thing secretly hoping you would in fact have a new PKM system / method that would be cool and shiny and finally the one to solve all my problems
Taryn's notebook also caught my eye in the Podcast Ep and I was immediately obsessed with it's wholesome purpose! My plethora of designated notebooks and digital systems now seem so boring in comparison with their purposes. I watch Ali Abdaal on YouTube and he introduced me to the Building a Second Brain concept and few other things you mentioned and while that's been beneficial to my productivity, I think it's a worthy investment to have a notebook that's just a silly goofy time ;)

That Jonathan Larson reference hit me right in the feels. Well played. Looking forward to having you in cohort 11!
Looking forward to hanging around again with ya! The boss is wrong as rain but WOP11 is right as rainbows and sunshine.

Excited to be an editor with you :)
