There's no chance the flame goes out in your case Becky, you're just illuminating new corners of the world. I'm raising a glass to your accomplishment, acknowledging it with high praise, and excited to get to hear about your new adventure when it works.
Really loved this post. I’m a massive fan of routine but, in nature, routine gets you killed. It’s so energizing when I read about people making choices, honoring the costs. I have no doubt this will be a good thing for you and you’ll still find gym time and writing time that serves you well. Healthy change, growth, can be as good for others as it is for ourselves.
I am a firm believer that creativity comes in many forms, and evolves over time. A weekly creative practice may not be something for you right now (after all, you've kept at it for a long time!) but your creativity will come through in other ways. Not just in Substack articles, but in photography, conversations, and so much more!
Good luck on your next exciting venture Becky. And well done for publishing so many posts so regularly. You certainly don't do things by half do you?! ☺️
Having an exit plan is one of the most under-rated decision components in life, Becky. I like where you are going with your near-future. Thank you for spurring and supporting so many others to continue their publishing streaks in APAC.
Take your time putting the new footholds in place, so you can navigate your new life with ease. And then return to us.
There’s something so precious about a consistent habit, especially showing up for others in the way you have. It’s a beautiful thing. On top of that, nothing can last forever. Kudos to you for running these gyms for so long, for showing up and giving space for others to grow as writers. Kudos too for recognizing when the seasons of your life are changing and it’s time to gracefully end the current one so you can thrive in your next one. I don’t think anything is lost actually. I think you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be and more great things will be coming your way.
I felt tricked by this... I was sure this meant you were giving up your Substack. Glad you're still here! Lol. And also, what an exciting new chapter. Ali? Full time?? Congrats, Becky!
Thanks for all the energy and effort you put into the Thursday sessions! With your new role and the creative steam train blasting ahead… it’s gonna be awesome to bare witness 💪

Aw thank you so much Rick! I'm still finding my footing but hope to hit the ground running soon :)

Thanks Matt! Routines serve us until they don't. Always a good thing to check in from time to time
