Congrats on the 92 weeks. I'm at about the same point. I keep wondering how far we have to go to reach the 1%. But it's quite the testimony to simple persistence. Writing for less than two years in a row weekly puts you at the top of the chart. So much can happen when you just keep going.
Yes, 2%. I've actually published over 100 weeks in a row, but Substack dropped my initial streak with a tech error, so I'm officially at 78. Let me know when you hit the 1%, but I guess it take a while. It's just numbers of course, but consistency is worth celebrating.
That’s so cool that your classmates were printing out your blog posts to cram before exams! You have so much energy, Becky, and are an inspiration to us WOP alumni. Really grateful to you and Josh for hosting the gyms. Can’t wait to read your book and nudge it on its way to the top of a bestseller list!
Even having the privilege of growing up in Hong Kong, I often felt discouraged from writing because of how little I could see other Indonesians in the books I read or the literary spaces I inhabit. I’m so happy that you’ve come this far and that you’ve shared your journey as well!
I love this! Being part of the writing community, WoP, gyms, and a writing group have been life transformational! Rooting for you to be a NYT best seller!
Love this, Becky. So admire your consistency + dedication to the craft. "Maybe this Indonesian kid can become a bestselling author after all" - heck yeah. It's way more than a maybe.
Great points about the writing community -
it reframes what 'normal' is from 'oh you write a blog?' to 'What are you writing this week?'
Yesss! It totally normalizes the experience!

It was wild to see that number keep shrinking over two years. Are you seeing 2% too?

Aw thanks so much, Simon!
Inspired by the "Update log" idea. I might be doing something similar 💡
You should totally! It's a fun way to keep up with the writer's life :)
