As always, I look forward to reading your thoughts on this journey. In a way, it feels like many of us who have exited corporate lives are on an Exodus and it's good to have friends in this wildness. My best to you always
Wow. Everything I wanted to say, written in GenZ/Millennial-speak. And with my Future of Work hat firmly on I say "Hallelujah!, EXACTLY what Becky is saying" ... my job felt lighter. I just saw it as one source of income, and I was trying to actively build another."
Best phrase award: "Companies aren’t committing to you for life. They’re hedging across a harem."
dude your post is making me wanna keep publishing again - i can only imagine how scary it was to put yourself out there given the contract, and that makes all the work you did even more amazing! (i'm also wondering if i should also have an alias just in case 🤣)
Took me a while to get started, and I eventually did it at the beginning of the year unapologetically (i’m yet to make my first $ on the side). I came to find out and it’s so freeing haha.. This is the way forward!! 🫡
The post covid years have really shown people across industries that loyalty is a one way street when it comes to corporate. Totally agree with you here! I find the best people to work with don’t mind if you have side projects. It’s the exclusivity clauses that we should be suspicious of.
This was so good, Becky.
thanks so much, Claire!
Thank you Becky for this post. One of these days I look forward to speaking openly with you about this.
Looking forward to it 🫡

My ex-employer literally had "you should declare influencer income" on their contract. That scared me for a good while!
So wild!
