When Bhav said, "Oh fuck you" jokingly to me about an hour after we met, I knew we’d be good friends.
What I didn’t know was that I would start a pod with her about three weeks later.
I’d been sitting on the idea for a while. Back in mid-2024, I discovered the Sunny Sixteen podcast and was instantly drawn to their creative-friends-sharing-updates energy. It’s run by four filmmakers that’s also associated with Moment, and they mostly just shoot the shit about their production projects, life updates, and famously, what’s in their cups.
I wanted to do something like that.
Mainly because the journey I’m on — publishing something every week on top of a full-time job — isn’t something many people around me are doing. I don’t have many IRL friends who’ve stuck with publishing consistently. Some dabbled in Substack, but most dropped off after a few posts. My online creator friends tend to have already “figured things out,” or live in time zones that make regular catch-ups impossible.
I guess what I was craving was a creative buddy. Someone who’s also building something on the side. Someone who might be up late thinking about note-taking systems. Someone who’s also on this weird and off-the-beaten path.
Not having anyone to kind of share this creative projects with didn’t really stop me from adapting some form of the Sunny Sixteen pod for myself, though. I started making solo video logs on Substack, a monthly check-in with myself. It scratched the itch a little. But the podcast idea never really left.
Enter: Bhav
I met
at a work offsite early April. Within the week, I discovered that she was 1) a very cool person, and 2) also a creator (though she doesn’t think that for some reason). She has YouTube channel and used to run a podcast. We also looked through each others’ Kindle libraries and found a good amount of overlap.I floated the idea of a podcast to her. We chatted about it, then she said, “What about something for small creators?”
That felt right. Neither of us have went viral (yet). Our accounts didn’t blow up (yet). But our creative side projects still changed our lives. We both have worked at creator-adjacent jobs because of the things we made online.
And that’s how
came to be.The vision
We used our first episode to learn about each other’s creator journeys, including our uncannily similar route from finance corporate finance > the creator economy.
It’s an unbridled joy to meet someone whom one can become fast friends with and start a podcast with. And I think it shows.
We’re keeping it chill: one ep a month. Just two small creators checking in on our projects, sharing what we’re learning, and making stuff in tandem.
Because what does it mean to be a small creator in 2025? Who the heck knows. It’s a wild wild west out there. But pull up a chair, come closer. We gotchu.

📽️ On my May creative updates: book v2, Hyrox, new job role.
📕 Read The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. I came into it blind but didn’t expect this to be the story at all. Was it right to read this as my first ever Joan Didion book? It was an extremely humane starting point...
🤓 A BTS look: my note-taking system for weekly Substack essays. It’s paywalled mainly because I couldn’t be bothered to blur out any sensitive stuff but lmk what parts of that might interest you if you wanna see it!
