loving the series so far, Becky! i remember your systems from some of our chats, but it's always nice to be reminded of them - i wanna try minimum viable progress, but my challenge is not knowing how to make it small enough that it's sustainable but big enough that the progress excites me
how do you usually think about making projects smaller?
Hmm in scaling down for a first project (e.g. I'm using a really simple example - filing my film negatives - which I had 0 experience before) I usually don't really know simple it can be so I just give it a go first.
I started off labelling the top of the page, inserting film, and cutting up the contact sheet (which is just a printout of all the pics in a roll) to fit into the negatives slot.
Then I realised the cutting of the contact sheet takes too much effort (I'm thinking - will I want to do this 10 more times? No) so I skipped that step and now just leave the contact sheet as is.
So it's also about trying it out, seeing which part causes friction, and then eliminating that step. At least for the first few tries! When it's sustainable and feels effortless, you can think about adding the step back in :)
Brilliant tips!
Thank you!
Loved reading about your personal system and waiting for the full bite-sized creativity book for more guidance!
Ahhh thank you! This is a good reminder to get back to editing…

OHHH "seeing what causes friction, then taking out that step" it's funny how simple this is but it never crossed my mind
i guess this just show you can just *not* do things lol - might try it out in my next essay, thank you!!
I hope it works!!
And yes you can totally NOT do things!!
